Bryan Lee Poulter is a digital artist, photographer and author working as Silver in the Mojave Desert of Nevada.
Photography came first, followed by years of pushing photographs beyond documentation toward the presence of painting. Four decades in communications, technology and IT gave Silver the technical foundation to keep experimenting. The images he imagined still exceeded the tools available to make them.
Generative imaging finally gave him a medium flexible enough to reach further into that imagination. He combines it with photographic instinct, digital manipulation and repeated refinement to pursue forms that once existed only in his imagination.
The work moves between the ancient and the impossible: eroded faces, mythic creatures, fractured stone and illuminated surfaces that seem recovered from civilizations that never existed. These materials and surfaces are depicted in digital images. The aim is not simply to make an image seen, but felt.
He calls this visual language Painted Light & Digital Alchemy.
The Silverback name
Silverback began as a name given to the artist and author for his tenacity—the refusal to back down from adversity, the will to push through hardship, and the determination to keep moving forward at an age when many would choose to stop.
